Veneers
Veneers are a thin piece of porcelain material that is useful for recreating a natural look of teeth for individuals with stained, chipped, gapped or small misaligned teeth. While making your teeth shine brighter and restoring a confident smile, Veneers also provide strength and resilience for your teeth more than the natural tooth enamel.
Veneers can last as much as 10-20 years, and our dentists at Hylan Dental Arts will guide you into making the right and appropriate choice.
What about Placing Veneers?
Dentists you usually schedule a minimum of two appointments to fix custom-made porcelain veneers over the contour of your teeth. It Involves the following steps:
- Cleaning the tooth with or without local anesthesia depending on the individual’s sensitivity.
- Making an impression of the tooth to be used in the laboratory for a temporary veneer to be made.
- A permanent veneer is made from the laboratory, the teeth are washed with pumice and water, and it is carefully placed using a glue that is cemented on the teeth for exact fit and contour.
- Within 60 seconds, the new permanent veneer is light cured over its surfaces for a proper fixation on the tooth structure.
- The excess materials are removed, and the edges of the veneers are polished.
- Finally, your dentist may schedule a follow-up or ask you to pay a visit if there is discomfort.
